Wow - what can we say about this gorgeous little retreat? Set in pretty countryside, staying at Buddle Barn is like stepping back in time, being surrounded by beautifully converted barns within a large courtyard and incredible landscaped gardens in the most tranquil of settings. This pretty pad for four, nestled amongst the gorgeousness, has its own walled garden and access to an indoor swimming pool and sauna, as well as use of a large private lawn a few steps away. With an upside-down approach, the two bedrooms and bathroom are on the ground floor whilst the open-plan living, dining and kitchen area can be found upstairs.
Living
Climb the stone exterior steps to the front door and you'll find yourself in the main living space - high vaulted ceilings lend it a light and airy feel, whilst the rustic original stone walls remind you of Buddle Barn's extensive past. Two beautiful Loaf sofas, bedecked in cream and turquoise and draped in sheepskins and the softest of cushions, offer plenty of seating whilst the cute wood-burning stove adds extra cosiness during cooler weather. There's under floor heating too, just in case. We love the eye-catching tree library; created by the clever owners, a pretty exposed tree trunk looks to pierce the room from top to bottom and holds plenty of books to read.
Eating
The cute kitchen has everything you'll need to cook for your loved ones, including a Rangemaster electric oven and hob, Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, a microwave and Delonghi appliances. The dining table sits in the kitchen and seats six - perfect for long, leisurely meals.
Sleeping
Take the stairs (which are gated for extra safety) down and the two cosy bedrooms await you for a peaceful night's sleep. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, two spacious wardrobes and glass doors that lead out into the garden. The second bedroom looks out over the central courtyard and has a comfy super king zip and link bed with chest of drawers. Both have sumptuous bedding and throws as well as under floor heating for cooler months.
Bathing
The cute bathroom, in nautical shades of blue, cream and white, sits ideally between the bedrooms and has a bath with shower overhead.
Outside space
Buddle Barn has its own private, enclosed garden which was the former Potager (kitchen garden). Original ancient walls enclose a pretty patio garden with a table, chairs and gas barbeque for outdoor dining, whilst you also have use of the absolutely stunning main top lawn which is just a few steps away. Surrounded with beautiful boarders of flowers and backing on to a private arboretum and parkland (often visited by herds of deer), this is an idyllic spot for sunny days and garden games such as croquet will be kept in the summer house to keep you entertained.
Swimming pool, sauna and gym
Adjacent to Buddle Barn is a gorgeous 15 metre indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym which guests have access to during their stay to use exclusively. Occasionally the owners use the gym and pool as well as using it as part of the physiotherapy practice which is on site. They will advise you on arrival when the pool, sauna and gym will be in use and when it will be available to you to enjoy exclusively. As a general guide, it is in use on three weekdays out of five, between 9am - 4pm, and occasional hours at weekends/evenings. The rest of the time it is yours for you to enjoy all to yourselves. During school holidays, usually the pool will be available for guests to use exclusively between 7am - 10am and 2pm - 5pm. Any occasional variations to these time slots will be provided on arrival.
Please note, the pool will not be available between 5th November 2024 and 7th March 2025.

Parking for Buddle Barn guests is immediately in front of the barn. There is ample parking within the large courtyard, which is also used by the owners and their physiotherapy patients.

Being set in the gorgeous rolling Devonian countryside, there is plenty to see and do in the area.
